My story: I was a state‑champion wrestler in Iowa and a Division I wrestler at Iowa State until repeated concussions and TBIs cut my career short. Years later, in my late 30s and early 40s, I came back through raw powerlifting and broke multiple all‑time American records in the open division. I even drug‑tested voluntarily after my final attempts to show it was all done clean. Not long after, bloodwork revealed Lyme disease and conditions that were destroying my recovery and causing serious inflammation. That's when I stepped away from powerlifting and shifted my focus to rebuilding my body for long‑term performance. Now my mission is different: it's not about lifting the most weight—it's about staying strong, athletic, and capable for decades.
