鳥取医療生活協同組合は、1951年に多くの人々の「勤労者とその家族の健康を守りたい」との思いから、鳥取勤労者医療生活協同組合として478人の組合員により創立されました。 発足翌年には、鳥取大火で診療所が全焼し甚大な被害に見舞われるなど、多くの困難に遭遇しましたが、組合員、役職員の皆様が一丸となって克服し、地域での医療福祉活動はもとより、組合員の生活の文化的経済的改善向上のため様々な事業に取り組んできました。 現在では、鳥取生協病院、鹿野温泉病院を始め、医科診療所、歯科診療所、そして介護事業はメディコープとっとりが行うなど、医療・介護福祉事業を展開し、組合員数は4万人を数えるに至っています。 「健康で長生きしたい」 「いざというとき安心してかかれる病院、診療所がほしい」 という地域住民の願いを実現するためにつくられたのが医療生協です。 組合員と職員が力を合わせて、健康づくり、まちづくり、医療制度の充実などにとりくんでいます。
