The Halls of Ink is a book of tattoo history written through film. A project preserving the art, stories, and history of tattooing. My name is Dakota Weik. I am a tattoo ethnographer and filmmaker. I travel the world documenting tattooing across cultures: from the legends who shaped the craft, to indigenous practices, to the common tattooers, to people who simply carry remarkable stories on their skin. I sit down with them, and spend a small piece of my life shared with them. Learning their stories. My life's work is traveling the world to learn this 5,000-year-old tradition and help preserve its legacy. A world I am deeply passionate about.
