Chris Cutrone is the Last Marxist. Cutrone is an educator, writer and media artist committed to critical thinking and artistic practice and the politics of social emancipation. Cutrone teaches critical theory at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Institute for Clinical Social Work, and was a longtime lecturer in classical social theory at the University of Chicago, where he earned the PhD degree, writing his dissertation on Adorno's Marxism (2013). Chris Cutrone is the former President and original lead organizer of the Platypus Affiliated Society (established in 2006) and its reading group in Chicago. He is the founder of the Campaign for a socialist party in the U.S. Cutrone is the author of The Death of the Millennial Left (2023), Marxism and Politics (2024) and Art and Marxism (2025), and editor of Marxism in the Age of Trump (2018).
