C21 Women's Ensemble is a Chicago-based group that showcases recently composed innovative works and great compositions of the past under the direction of Martha Swisher, who is also director of the UTUUC Music Program. We seek to bring together committed singers to learn new repertoire and have the fun of working on a concentrated project. Choral music connects people like nothing else can. When it works, the communion of conductor, musicians and audience is palpable. The C21 Women's Ensemble is dedicated to creating the conditions to achieve this communion. Ms. Swisher completed her graduate and undergraduate musical training at Northwestern University and Indiana University respectively.
