I believe that there has been something lost in modern martial arts that are mostly; traditional, sport oriented or self defense that claims to be "too deadly" to practice resistance training. But I especially see that something has been lost in the old jujutsu family of martial arts that gave lineage to styles like Akido, Judo, Hapkido and BJJ. All originally came from a martial art of mostly stand up grappling techniques that were designed to be used for weapon retention and weapon disarming in close quarters often while dressed in armor. Part of my mission is to understand how these techniques were originally intended to be applied by the very real warriors who used them and translate some of these concepts into a more modern application.
