Soneta Group adalah grup musik dangdut yang didirikan sekaligus dipimpin langsung oleh Rhoma Irama pada 11 Desember 1970. Nama "Soneta" diambil dari nama sebuah bentuk puisi Itali kuno yang terdiri dari 14 baris. Pada 13 Oktober 1973, Rhoma mendeklarasikan Soneta Group sebagai "Voice of Moslem" (Suara Muslim) yang menjadikan visi misi musik mereka sebagai media dakwah. Semenjak saat itu pun mulai dilakukan revolusi musik dangdut yang juga sekaligus membersamai revolusi identitas Soneta Group, baik dari segi musik, instrumen, aransemen, syair, lirik, kostum, maupun penampilan di atas panggung. Dalam 3 tahun pertama terbentuk, beberapa personil Soneta Group merupakan cabutan dari grup Orkes Melayu Purnama. Kemudian pada tahun 1973 dibentuklah formasi dengan personil tetap atau yang lebih dikenal sebagai formasi pertama Soneta Group.
