Sunroom stories and songs with Shona Bee and Rene’ 🌈 is an educational channel designed to develop reading skills in young children. Both trained and experienced teachers we started developing these stories and songs at the beginning of lockdown for South African children who don't always have access to reading books. The idea is that, listening to these stories and songs, will develop much needed auditory perceptual and comprehension skills. Children can use these books as a digital reader where they can choose to read along or pause the video and read the words at their own pace. The discussion questions at the end of the story are really a fun way for parents or care givers to interact with their children over the content of the story. Together with the songs, which are based on the stories, this will bring meaning to the text and also develops early reading/vocabulary/comprehension skills so vital for our children's schooling careers and life. Mostly we hope it will be fun!
