The Chinese Artists Society of Toronto Youth Orchestra (CASTYO) was established in 1993. CASTYO is a not-for-profit organization and is affiliated with the Chinese Artists Society of Toronto. The Youth Orchestra consists of nearly sixty young musicians. The coaching team of CASTYO provides our musicians with professional support and is led by Tony Fan, conductor and music director; and Samantha Chang, conductor of the flute choir and assistant conductor of the youth orchestra. CASTYO’s mission is to nurture the talents of young musicians by providing them with orchestral performance experience. For every member of the orchestra, CASTYO hopes to instill a sense of self-discipline and commitment to music and the art of group performance. Through regular practice, rehearsals and performances, members of CASTYO polish their technique, strengthen their appreciation of music, and familiarize themselves with the art of group performance.
