Welcome to The Chordettes YouTube channel The Chordettes were a singing quartet that specialised in barbershop harmony (and later pop) from 1946 until 1961. Formed in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the group shot to fame with their 1954 hit “Mr Sandman” which hit #1 in the U.S. and remained there for 7 weeks. They followed with a string of later hits including “Born to Be With You” in 1955, “Eddie My Love” in 1956, “Just Between You And Me” in 1957, “Lollipop” in 1958 and “Never on Sunday” in 1961. “Lollipop” reached #2 and sold over a million records. Following the release of “Never on Sunday” in 1961, the group’s founder Jinny Osborn left, resulting in the group’s dissolution. The Chordettes were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2001. They are most well known for their two biggest hits, “Mr Sandman” and “Lollipop”, which remain as the two of the most memorable songs of the 1950’s era.
