Stropes Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to promote the art of fingerstyle guitar by supporting scholarship, education, publication, and the development of archives. Fingerstyle guitar today is at an interesting juncture, with a history going back as far the origin of the guitar, extensive evolution in the US, an explosion of interest in the 1960s, and subsequent accretions of technology and technique. Our archives bring together this rich history and associated materials to establish the record for future generations. This repository will reward the attention of performers and scholars. The Stropes Foundation supports publication of state-of-the-art transcriptions and scholarly materials pertaining to fingerstyle guitar and the development of new delivery systems and platforms to improve accessibility through online education.
