Mestra Martinha do Coco nasceu em 11 de junho de 1961, em Olinda (PE), na Maternidade da Encruzilhada. Aos 17 anos de idade, migrou para BrasÃlia (DF) com a famÃlia, enraizando-se na região do Paranoá. Mãe de quatro filhos, trabalhou como babá e gari até se redescobrir como cantora e brincante. Consolidou a carreira através de composições autênticas, que perpassam os ritmos do Maracatu, da Ciranda do Samba de Coco. A partir das raÃzes olindenses desenvolveu um estilo musical melódico e inconfundÃvel, por muitos chamado de “Coco do Cerrado''. Sua presença abre rodas de encantamento por onde passa, marcadas pelo bom humor, pelo amor à s belezas cerratenses e por reflexões filosóficas que sempre nos provocam. Martinha gravou dois discos, Rodas Griô (2017) e o Perfume Dela (2019), e em breve lançará o CD Coco de Ninar. Atualmente, com 64 anos, é considerada uma das principais referências no cenário cultural do DF.
