My name is Yaya. Thank you for tuning into Trauma And God. I grew up with a neglectful, self-centered mother and a charismatic but sexually abusive father. I felt hopeless, deeply unloved, unwanted, ugly, a throwaway child. Then I married and had to change. I want to bridge the gap by chronicling the difficult process of changing one set of beliefs for another. Many books and teachings outline how thought processes need to change, and many more tell us what âhealthy responsesâ look like. But not much describes the process of getting from the âbad sideâ to the âgood side.â I want to look at how messy it can be in the middle of the gap, when youâre hurting and there seems to be no way forward. I want to take the mystique out of the middle, messy part of change, passing on to you a pathway, hope and courage to go through your changes in whatever way God speaks to them. You are not alone.
