The YouTube channel was originally created by Evan as a way to document his trips. In 2015 the channel was born and began hosting videos, but it didn't have a name. Evan considered different names over the years but nothing fell into place. Rich joined Evan on a trip in the fall of 2017 and took an interest in creating the content for the YouTube channel. The two started investing in better camera equipment and focused on constantly improving the quality of their videos. Rich and Evan would often spend their evenings having a glass of Scotch and looking over countless maps. They would try to find unique routes, feasible loops and points of interest. When someone would ask what they were doing they would reply "Scotch and Maps" One afternoon while trying to think up a great name for the YouTube channel this frequently used phrase of Scotch and Maps was reworked into "Single Malt and Maps". We have a passion for the outdoors, and want to share our experiences with everyone.
