We also work toward long-term solutions through nutrition education, hunger awareness and advocacy. As Kansas City's only food bank, Harvesters is a clearinghouse for the collection and distribution of food and related household products. Our network includes more than 550 not-for-profit agencies throughout our 13-county direct service area, including emergency food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, children's homes, homes for the mentally disabled and shelters for battered persons. Our network provides food assistance to nearly 60,000 different people each week.
