Of the album Man at Sea says: “I have aways been most inspired by the great songwriters whether that’s Gershwin or Joni Mitchell or more contemporary writers like Neil Hannon and Thom Yorke. The ambition to somehow capture the human experience in song form is what drives me as a writer and I hope comes across in this, my debut record. The title 'Pale Fire Catch Me' is a reference to artistic inspiration (quoting Nabokov’s novel ‘Pale Fire’ itself lifted from Shakespeare) which feels under attack more than ever with the rise of AI art and the diminishing financial returns for making music in today’s landscape.
