Die Geschichte von "Save the Ocean" 2016 gründete Jörn Kriebel die Initiative „Save the Ocean“, um Delfine, Orcas und andere Meerestiere vor Ausbeutung, Gefangenschaft und Gewalt zu schützen. Er setzte sich öffentlich gegen die Missstände in der Delfinhaltung ein und informierte die Gesellschaft über die grausamen Praktiken in Delfinarien. 2017 begann er mit seiner ersten Demonstration im Duisburger Zoo und setzte seinen Protest in verschiedenen Ländern fort, darunter in Paris, Griechenland, Malta und den Niederlanden. Doch „Save the Ocean“ kämpft auch gegen die brutalen Walabschlachtungen auf den Färöer-Inseln, in Kanada, Grönland und Japan. In einem 12-stündigen Gefängnisaufenthalt erlebte Jörn selbst, wie es sich anfühlt, hinter Gittern zu leben – eine Erfahrung, die seinen Einsatz noch verstärkte. Heute kämpft die Initiative weiter für die Schließung aller Delfinarien und die Beendigung der Waljagd, bis das letzte Becken geschlossen und die Abschlachtung gestoppt ist.
