Birth is an experimental progressive funk trio from South Wales. The band formed back in 2014 with founding members James Cook and James Hewitson, Birth later saw the arrival of guitarist Leon Bowen. The band started off gigging at various venues playing cover shows at events such as Cadstock and Porthcawl Beer festival. Later the band would go on to write their own music, which started out as progressive funk numbers and has slowly began developing into heavier more refined tunes. The earliest demos were recorded at home, and later re-recorded in the studio. Births newer songs were in development and ready to be recorded, however the coronavirus pandemic slowed down that process and thus there are still unheard birth songs that have been frozen in time.
