NOÉ (pronounced “noi”) is the rare triple-talent: a producer, rapper and singer from Te Whanganui-a-tara, Aotearoa. Raised in a Fijian family that moved around the North Island, he grew up on a diet of West Coast hip-hop, g-funk, jiggy Y2K rap, ‘80s pop, traditional Pacific music, and hip-hop dance culture: influences that continue to shine through in his work. After he started making beats in FL Studio in his teens, he used music software, SoundCloud, and social media to find a bigger world for himself online. In 2021, NOÉ caught a nod from the GRAMMY Award-winning American R&B singer T-Pain before appearing on the influential Australian beatmakers Cabu and Ta-Ku's respective albums, So Far To Go and Songs To Come Home To, while continuing to release his own material. Three years later, he was selected to attend APRA AMCOS’s Moana Songhubs 2024, curated by Ladi6. There, he connected with the legendary Samoan Indian singer-songwriter, Aaradhna, who featured on his Cruel Change EP (2024). A self-taught beatmaker and songwriter cut from a similar cloth to American alternative rap and R&B stars like Childish Gambino and Masego, NOÉ’s sensibilities range from undeniable good-times grooves and soulful sing-alongs to deeper, inward-looking introspection. Vulnerable and braggadocious in equal measure, he walks the middle path: all things in moderation, even moderation.
