In any historic reset of culture, the foundations tend to be rebuilt at local levels, beginning with families and neighborhoods. This is one of many reasons I am optimistic about the future. In 2019, world culture was overshadowed by domineering executive power, bureaucratic enforcement mechanisms, anti-business government regulations, and the long-standing anti-academic trends of government education. In 2020, that dominance began to fragment and then weaken. If families and neighborhoods can assert local freedom, they hold a key to a bright future. Strong families and strong communities can gradually rebuild weak nations.
