Hailing from San Diego, Jack Tempchin first captured attention when he was signed to Arista Records by the legendary Clive Davis in 1976, as a member of the band The Funky Kings. The group’s hit "Slow Dancing (Swayin’ To the Music)" soared into the Billboard Top 10 in 1977, recorded by Johnny Rivers. Jack’s songs have been covered by George Jones, Buck Owens, Johnny Rivers, Glenn Campbell and many others, who brought his compositions to life. Tempchin’s connection with the Eagles marked a turning point in his career. His iconic songs "Peaceful Easy Feeling" and "Already Gone" became anthems of a generation, featured on the Eagles' "Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975," an album crowned by the RIAA as the Best-Selling U.S. Album of the 20th Century. Beyond his work with the Eagles, Tempchin collaborated closely with Glenn Frey during the 1980s, co-writing major hits like “The One You Love” and “Smuggler’s Blues.” In 2019, Jack was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
