I am documenting the uniquely South African journey of preparing for the annual Comrades marathon. I am training out of Pretoria, South Africa, and will share unique insights into the surrounding scenery, my training (including workouts and races), nutrition, key health metrics, and random takes on the modern state of humanity. In my debut Comrades in 2025, which was a Down Run, I managed to earn a 12th-place finish in a time of 5h41m; however, I learned a lot and I am excited to apply my new learnings towards gearing up for Comrades 2026's Up Run.
