Founded in New York in 1997 by Alan and Diana Meltzer, Wind-up Records became one of the most successful independent rock labels of the late 1990s and 2000s. Built around the philosophy of “Developing Career Artists,” the label established a reputation for discovering and breaking major alternative and rock acts, most notably Creed and Evanescence. Its roster also included Seether, Finger Eleven, 12 Stones, Breaking Point and Alter Bridge. Wind-up was subsequently retired as a frontline label in 2016, with much of its catalog continuing through Concord's Craft Recordings.
