Das Projekt CURE (Cooperative University Racecar Engineering) startete 2011 mit einer Machbarkeitsstudie des Studiengangs Projekt Engineering. Heute stellt CURE Mannheim e.V. ein studiengangsübergreifendes Projekt aus den Bereichen Technik und Wirtschaft an der DHBW Mannheim dar, das von über 70 Studierenden getragen wird. Darüber hinaus wird das Team von Absolventen, Dozenten und Partnern aus Wirtschaft und Industrie unterstützt. Gemeinsam arbeitet das Team jedes Jahr an der Entwicklung und dem Bau eines Elektro-Rennwagens sowie an der Vermarktung des Projekts. Dabei entwickelt sich das Team kontinuierlich weiter, profitiert auch vom Know-how der professionellen Partner und baut so sein Wissen weiter aus. Mit dem gebauten Rennwagen nimmt CURE an den Formula Student Events in Europa teil. Die Formula Student ist ein internationaler Konstruktionswettbewerb, an dem Teams aus aller Welt mit ihren Rennwagen teilnehmen, sich weiterentwickeln, messen und austauschen können.
