I've been writing a song a day since January 1 2009. I started when I was 26, and now I'm in my 40s. I've kept song a day going through getting married, losing loved ones and the birth of two children and the fostering/adopting of a third. I've keep it going through sick days, busy days, COVID days, happy days and over 6000 other kinds of days besides. The songs are not all great. In fact, in my opinion, most of them aren't. But of the many things I've learned, one important one is this: It's not up to me to decide the value of the things I make. A song that I tossed off in a moment between cooking dinner and putting the kids to bed will turn out to be somebody's favorite I've ever done. This hasn't just happened once; it's a recurring theme of Song A Day. I don't plan on stopping Song A Day until I die. (Oh, and as of 2024, I make video games and websites too!)
