Flapping Crane was a Minnesota-based internet-only sketch comedy group active from 2004 through roughly 2012, though we were most active from 2004–2009. Its core group included Alex Kretchmer, Joe Lillibridge, Eric Page, Bryann Schlough, Shawn Turek and Pete Voss. We were inspired by acts like Stella and the early work of The Lonely Island, which I think is fairly obvious in some skits (in tone, if not in quality). Flapping Crane never had much success, but it had its moments. One skit was presented on the front page of National Lampoon’s website. Another was shown (albeit pretty cut for length) on a show called “Torrent” on the Canadian version of G4. There were definitely some blown opportunities, including a chance to work with the now-defunct Crackle. The plan is to preserve a decent chunk here, at least the ones we released under a Creative Commons license. Others will likely not pass copyright scrutiny so we’ll see how much can be uploaded.
