Rise Again Lyrics & music: Trinity & Gordon Groothedde Filmed at the Nederland Zingt Dag 2016 ISRC code: NL-QR5-16-000022 © 2022 Trinity Music / The Fuel Music Rise Again is the 3rd single leading up to the release of the album ‘Desert Rain’ which is the result of two years of band life, travels and family life as well as jamming with immigrant-musicians in The Netherlands where Trinity resides. Rise Again combines first class production (Gordon Groothedde and Trinity) that displays musicality and character. The album is permeated with the knowledge that we as humans are meant for more. And that we are meant to be together and connected instead of alone in the world. It contains worlds of music and stories made with the characteristic pop sound of Trinity. A sound known and loved by many all over the world. Warm-blooded, passionate rhythms and melodies. Lyrics that offer hope, love and a true home in Christ. Rise Again – Story behind the Song Bert: One of my favorites on the album! The first lines Elbert sings hit home right away. And though it is a song about oppression it also feels like a song about conquering my own struggles. There is always hope! Niek: For me I think the ‘trigger’ for the chorus was watching Ridley Scott’s version of Robin Hood. Russell Growe’s sentence ‘Rise and rise again until lambs become lions’ is a very strong and epic rhyme that empowers the common men to fight against evil oppression. Elbert: On our way to the USA I saw the movie Selma. An impressive insight into the battle for equal rights for black Americans. Martin Luther King continually pleads for non-violent resistance. Even when it seems so logical and tempting to repay evil with evil. In the plane I wrote the first lines of the verse. I think it’s cool that you can hear all sorts of flutes and panpipes in the bridge. Even my giant 1,5 meters panpipe from Ecuador. To me it’s a tribute to all of the native tribes whose lands were taken and who were murdered. The Incas, Mayas, North American tribes etc. Even though justice has been crushed for so many years, there will be a reckoning. When I play people the album I always let them hear the choruses we sang as a choir. Gives me goose bumps every time. The way we recorded the choir was so cool, Gordon said he had an idea for the backings. He’d sing us a line and then we’d sing that line to record it. It was only when we heard all of those lines together that we realized how awesome it had become! I played the song to Doremieke (my wife) for the first time and every time the track ended she told me: ‘Again!’ As we were writing the song started to grow dear to us. We discovered areas in our own lives where we needed to rise up. Patterns that kept us down. Or fears that stopped growth. Sometimes we have to believe in resurrection in the midst of a difficult situation. Everything seems so dark and difficult that you almost believe that that is the real world. Even though I want to believe that the little rays of light, hope and happiness are the reality. And that that world will eventually conquer. ‘Because truth crushed to earth willriseagain.’A quotefromasermonbyMarinLuther King. I thought it would be a great line for the bridge, but in the end the bridge was already so layered musically that I just shouted it from the rooftops... The older I get and the more I see of this world, the more I feel angry at times, and sad or depressed. A feeling of frustration, empty and haunting that I can’t shake off with cheap answers. This song has this secret in it: resurrection and truth that will ultimately bring the injustice and death to light and to an end. Jesus, the way, the truth and the life was crushed and rose again. Speaking of resurrection! In the end I don’t believe that the injustice, hate, drag and intimidation will win, but life. Hope. A smile. A helping hand. Hospitality. A new chance for someone who didn’t deserve it. Love... Lyrics Who do you think you are To beat me down I’ll stand my ground Time and time again I’ll keep pressing on I’ll stand strong Through it all Yes, I’ll sing this song Above it all Rise, rise again Though I’m bending in the storm I’ll never break Rise, rise again You can’t break me, you can try But I’ll survive I’ve kept it in for years Believed my fears But I found hope Now I know You reap just what you sow I’ll stand strong Through it all Yes, I’ll sing this song Above it all Rise, rise again Though I’m bending in the storm I’ll never break Rise, rise again You can’t break me, you can try But I’ll survive When will wounded justice Be lifted from this dust of shame To reign supreme among the children of men? It will not be long, because truth crushed to earth will rise again. Rise, rise again Though I’m bending in the storm I’ll never break Rise, rise again You can’t break me, you can try But I’ll survive
