Original Video Credit: [creator] on IG This video shows excess fiberglass and cured resin being trimmed from the edge of a composite part. The hair-like strands are not straw—they are fiberglass reinforcement. Those fibers are saturated with resin, often polyester or epoxy, which hardens around them and turns the loose material into a rigid composite shell. The dark coating may also be pigmented resin or gelcoat, giving the finished part its color while sealing the surface. Once the resin cures, the loose strands and overflow at the edge can be cut away cleanly. The main advantage is strength without excessive weight: fiberglass carries loads through the fibers, while the resin locks everything into shape. A few seconds of trimming can replace 10–20 minutes of sanding and leave a much cleaner finished edge.
