Why do so many women struggle to speak up, set boundaries, become visible, charge for their skills or take up space — even when they consciously KNOW they’re capable? Sometimes, what looks like low confidence, procrastination, people-pleasing or fear of visibility has much deeper roots. In this teaching, taken from my Healing the Witch Wound course, we explore our Ancestral Threads — the historical, cultural and generational experiences that have shaped women’s relationship with visibility, voice, power, money and safety. For generations, women learned that being outspoken, different, powerful, financially independent, intuitive, knowledgeable or simply unwilling to conform could carry consequences. And although our lives may look very different today, some of those messages can continue through family systems, cultural conditioning and the stories we inherit about what it means to be a “good” or “safe” woman. So when your body seems to scream NO as you try to: • speak up for yourself • put a boundary in place • become more visible online • share your knowledge or creativity • charge properly for your work • make more money • say no without explaining yourself • step into a bigger version of your life …it’s worth becoming curious about what sits underneath that response. This isn't about blaming our ancestors, and it isn't about suggesting every fear we experience is inherited. It’s about recognising that we don't develop in a vacuum. Our nervous systems exist inside families, communities and cultures. We learn what receives approval, what causes rejection, when it feels safer to belong than to stand apart — and what women before us had to do in order to survive. Understanding those roots can help us stop treating these patterns as personal character flaws. Maybe you're not simply “bad at boundaries.” Maybe visibility isn't just a confidence problem. Maybe keeping yourself small once represented safety. And when we understand the root, we can begin the work of choosing something different. 🔥 HEALING THE WITCH WOUND If this teaching resonates, my full Healing the Witch Wound course explores these ancestral and cultural threads more deeply and supports you in reclaiming the parts of yourself you may have learned to silence. 👉 Explore Healing the Witch Wound here: https://www.mymojoschool.com/course/healing-the-witch-wound 🌿 ABOUT MOJO SCHOOL At Mojo School of Holistic Wellness, we explore burnout recovery as more than simply learning how to rest. We look at the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual roots of how we became exhausted in the first place — including nervous-system patterns, people-pleasing, boundaries, identity, visibility, shadow work and the parts of ourselves we've learned to suppress. Because sometimes burnout is just the beginning. #WomensWellbeing #BurnoutRecovery #NervousSystemRegulation #PeoplePleasing #Boundaries #FearOfVisibility #WomensVoices #GenerationalPatterns #AncestralHealing #ShadowWork #WomenOver40 #HealingTheWitchWound
