Massive waves continued to hammer the coastline as extreme high tides, beach erosion, and dangerous surf created another chaotic day along the Newport Peninsula. After days of massive surf, coastal flooding, and serious beach erosion, crews were working around the clock to protect the coastline. Bulldozers and heavy equipment were out on the sand building massive protective sand berms to help prevent the ocean from flooding nearby streets, homes, and businesses. Luckily, the sand berms helped hold back the flooding today, but the waves were still absolutely POUNDING the beach! Things got even crazier when POLICE ARRIVED AND ORDERED EVERYONE OFF THE BEACH! We actually got kicked out of The Wedge as authorities cleared the area while crews continued working to protect the coastline. Between the monster shorebreak, destroyed sections of beach, massive sand berms, heavy equipment, and police shutting everything down, this was another unforgettable day at The Wedge!
