Located in Leishan County, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture of Guizhou Province, the village is home to over 1,400 households and more than 6,000 residents, with over 99% belonging to the Miao ethnic group. It is often called a "living museum of Miao culture" because it preserves centuries-old traditions, architecture, festivals, music, and craftsmanship. Nestled in a picturesque mountain valley beneath Leigong Mountain, the village is built entirely along the hillsides. Thousands of traditional wooden stilt houses, known as Diaojiaolou, rise layer upon layer above the Baishui River, creating one of the most spectacular mountain village landscapes in China. Wind and Rain Bridges connect both sides of the river, while narrow stone streets lead visitors through ancient neighborhoods filled with traditional homes, artisan workshops, and local markets. For centuries, Xijiang has been one of the most important cultural centers of the Miao people.
