This was the story of those women voters of independent India who did not want to reveal their names to the unknown election workers who came to their homes to prepare the voter list! Most of these women were from Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Vindhya Pradesh. The Election Commission, grappling with this strange story of the first generation of women voters of independent India, finally had to issue instructions that only those women who reveal their true identity can remain voters.
