Located in the Indian Ocean between the eastern coast of Africa and Madagascar, this group of volcanic islands immediately impressed me with its tropical beauty. The turquoise water, green mountains, palm trees, and peaceful beaches created a breathtaking landscape. However, I was deeply disappointed to see so much rubbish scattered along the roads, beaches, and public areas. The natural surroundings were beautiful, but the amount of trash made it difficult to fully appreciate them. The Comoros Islands are made up of three main islands: Grande Comore, Mohéli, and Anjouan. Each island has its own character, scenery, and attractions. Grande Comore is the largest island and is home to Moroni, the capital city, while Mohéli is known for its quiet atmosphere and marine life. Anjouan stands out for its dramatic mountains, waterfalls, and rich vegetation. One of the most remarkable features of Comoros is its volcanic landscape. Mount Karthala, an active volcano on Grande Comore, rises above the island and dominates the surrounding scenery. The dark volcanic rocks along the coast contrast beautifully with the clear blue ocean. The islands also have forests, agricultural land, and fragrant plants such as vanilla, cloves, and ylang-ylang. I found the culture of Comoros particularly interesting because it reflects African, Arab, Malagasy, and French influences. Islam plays an important role in everyday life, and mosques can be seen throughout the towns and villages. The local languages, traditional clothing, architecture, food, and customs demonstrate the country’s diverse history and cultural connections. The people I encountered contributed to the islands’ warm and welcoming atmosphere. Life appeared to move at a slower and more relaxed pace than in many larger countries. Traditional communities and family relationships remain important, while fishing and farming continue to support many local households. This simplicity gave the islands an authentic character that I appreciated. Despite its extraordinary natural beauty, Comoros faces serious environmental and economic challenges. Poor waste management was one of the most visible problems during my experience. Plastic bags, bottles, and other rubbish could be seen in places that should have been clean and attractive. I felt disappointed because better waste collection and greater environmental awareness could protect the islands and make them far more enjoyable for residents and visitors. Overall, my impression of Comoros was a mixture of admiration and sadness. I admired the dramatic mountains, tropical vegetation, clear ocean, and distinctive culture, but I was saddened by the amount of waste covering parts of the landscape. The islands have enormous potential, and with improved cleanliness and environmental protection, their natural beauty could shine much more brightly. _______________________________________ Thank you so much for tuning in to every single video and joining me on adventures around the globe!
