A whole lamb cooked the traditional way in a remote Afghan village that no foreigner had ever visited — this is the unseen side of Afghan food almost nobody gets to experience! Today we're going completely off grid in Afghanistan — two hours from Kabul, deep into the mountains of Wardak, to my friend Bilal Kamal's home village, where he's taking me to meet the elders — his father and uncles — and cook a traditional Afghan feast together. We make stops along the way for melons and firewood, get a welcome I was not ready for, and then watch the entire preparation of a whole lamb plus a spread of countryside dishes, cooked exactly the way they've been made in this village for generations.
