Japan invented a fake writing style where you strip all the hiragana and katakana out of Japanese and just leave the kanji. The result looks exactly like Chinese. And somehow Chinese speakers can actually read most of it. It's called å½äøå½čŖ, pseudo Chinese, or just fake Chinese if you don't want to deal with that. In this video I go over what it actually is, where it came from, the app that crashed its servers in four days after hitting number one on the Japanese App Store, how much Japanese and Chinese speakers can actually communicate through it, and all of the genuinely funny things that happen when the same characters mean completely different things in two different languages. If you speak Chinese please do leave a comment, I want to know how much is actually understandable.
