I spent 6 days in the magical country of Kenya and hereโs my itinerary! ๐ฐ๐ช๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฟ ๐ป HOW TO BOOK: I booked the tour through @james_munyiri_safari (on Instagram) and canโt recommend him enough (reach out to him if you want to plan a trip to Kenya, Whatsapp: +254 722225107)! DAY 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara ๐ Picked up from the airport, we headed south to Maasai Mara, with a stop at the breathtaking Great Rift Valley. Checked into KEEKOROK LODGE, and dived straight into an evening game drive. Witnessed the sun setting over the Mara and spent over an hour with a LEOPARD - an unforgettable start! ๐ ๐ DAYS 2/3: Full Day Maasai Mara Safari ๐ Early mornings and thrilling game drives - two full days of spotting so many animals - countless lions, zebras, elephants, cape buffalo, giraffes, wildebeest, and cheetah. We went up to The Mara River (great to see the Great Migration but we werenโt lucky the day we visited), and the Keekorok Lodge became our home, offering warm dinners and cozy overnights after exhilarating days in the wild. ๐ฆ๐ฆ DAY 4: Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru ๐ A sunrise Balloon Safari, visiting a Masai Village and a journey to Lake Nakuru - the LAKE NAKURU LODGE awaited us. Lunch on the way, and we were mesmerized by the wonders of Lake Nakuru National Park! Flamingoes, diverse birdlife, and a comfortable nightโs rest in the jungle. ๐ฆฉ๐ฆ DAY 5: Lake Nakuru ๐ An early morning game drive at Lake Nakuru where we spotted tons of rhinos (Big 5 done in Kenya!) followed by a scenic drive to Naivasha. Enjoyed a Boat Ride in Lake Naivasha and spotted hippos and pelicans in the water. Then settled into the serene SAWELA LODGES. ๐ค๐ฆฉ DAY 6: Naivasha to Nairobi ๐ Had a laid-back morning in Naivasha and drove down to Nairobi. Tried some Ethiopian food for lunch and headed to the Giraffe Center where we got to feed some giraffes, which was such a cool experience! ๐ฆ If you have more time, you can also visit Amboseli National Park and maybe do a trip to Zanzibar (both things I wish Iโd done). You can customize your tour with @james_munyiri_safari. Some things to keep in mind if youโre travelling to Kenya: ๐ฆ Kenya is now visa free for Indians but you need to pay a $30 processing fee and ETA is mandatory. You need a yellow fever vaccination and a polio booster to be able to visit Kenya (and at least 14 days before your trip). Book your appointment well in advance because there are limited slots. ๐ฆ There are direct flights from Mumbai to Nairobi. I flew Air Kenya but a week after I visited, Indigo also started flights to Kenya so youโve got options. ๐ฆ I visited in August and July-August are the best months to visit if you want to see the Great Migration, however, itโs also the most expensive time to visit Kenya (expect to pay 3k+ USD for a one week trip if you want to do private safaris). However, you can spot animals all year long and February and November are a great time to visit on a budget. You can also choose to stay in camps outside the national parks and explore Kenya on a budget. You can check the cost for different packages with @james_munyiri_safari ๐ฆ Kenya is best experienced on a private safari and staying inside national parks (the hotels inside the parks arenโt fenced and you see animals right outside your room and itโs a beautiful experience). However, it can be expensive (like I said, you can stay in camps outside the parks if youโre on a budget); be sure to carry some USDs and as much as possible, pay everything in advance so you can avoid carrying cash. Hope this helps! Let me know if Kenya is on your bucket list [Masai Mara, Kenya, Kenya itinerary, Masai Mara itinerary]
