I let the sauce simmer all day in the crock pot while I cook the hot dogs on the griddle. It's an easy meal for game day, parties, or a quick family dinner. One tip that saves me time: if I know we're having tacos one night, I'll cook an extra couple pounds of ground beef. Then the next day I already have the beef ready to make this coney sauce, which makes this recipe almost effortless. Ingredients Coney Sauce 2 pounds ground beef ½ cup chopped onion 2 cups water or beef broth 1 cup ketchup 2 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard Âź cup white vinegar 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce 1 tablespoon minced garlic 1 tablespoon chili powder 1 teaspoon cumin 1 teaspoon celery seed ž teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon black pepper For Serving Hot dogs Aunt Millie's hot dog buns Freshly shredded cheddar cheese Instructions: Brown the beef. Cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. You can do this on your Blackstone griddle or in a large skillet on the stove. Drain any excess grease if needed. Make the sauce. Add the cooked beef and onion to a crock pot. Stir in the water (or beef broth), ketchup, mustard, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, chili powder, cumin, celery seed, salt, and pepper. Slow cook. Cover and cook on Low for 6 hours, stirring once or twice if you're around. The sauce will thicken and the flavors will come together. Cook the hot dogs. Near the end of the cooking time, preheat your griddle to medium heat. Cook the hot dogs, turning occasionally, until they're heated through and browned on all sides. Assemble. Place each hot dog in an Aunt Millie's bun. Spoon plenty of the coney sauce over the top. Finish with freshly shredded cheddar cheese, onions and serve. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- âď¸MY FAVORITE GRIDDLE TOOLS (affiliate links I earn a small commission): âşOil spritzer 2 in 1: https://amzn.to/4mDSCsN âş2 in 1 Thermometer: https://amzn.to/4ydBobu âşMelting Dome: https://amzn.to/434ushs âşMy Favorite Warming Rack: https://amzn.to/3yYFEfN âşSpatulas & Scrapper: https://amzn.to/4469QH4 âşJust the Scrapper: https://amzn.to/4v7hD3j âşSmash Burger Press : https://amzn.to/3JLuja9 Š 2024GriddleWithJohnny all rights reserved Connect with me: Website: Johnnybrunet.com Email: [email protected]
