This immersive 4K drive begins in Yangxian County, Shaanxi, following the G5 Beijing–Kunming Expressway northeast toward Jinshui Toll Station. Over just 34 kilometers, the scenery gradually changes from the open farmland, villages and river plains on the eastern edge of the Hanzhong Basin to the narrower valleys and forested foothills of the Qinling Mountains. Yangxian lies between the Qinling Mountains to the north and the Bashan Mountains to the south. The Han River and its tributaries have shaped a fertile basin of rice fields, wetlands and traditional farming communities. As the road leaves the basin, the elevation rises from approximately 454 to 703 meters, while layered mountains, green slopes, expressway bridges and valley corridors become increasingly prominent. This is not an extreme high-altitude mountain crossing. Instead, it captures a subtle but unmistakable geographical transition—from the broad Hanzhong Basin into the southern foothills and valleys of the Qinling Mountains, one of China’s most important natural boundaries. The G5 Beijing–Kunming Expressway is a major north–south route connecting northern China with the southwest. Its Xi’an–Hanzhong section opened completely in 2007, linking the Guanzhong Plain, the Qinling Mountains and the Hanzhong Basin. The wider project required hundreds of bridges and more than one hundred tunnels, making it a landmark of expressway construction through difficult mountain terrain. Environmental protection also influenced the highway’s design. Parts of the route were adjusted to avoid important habitats of the crested ibis, one of the world’s rarest birds. In 1981, the last seven known wild crested ibises were rediscovered near Yangxian, turning the county into the birthplace of one of the world’s most successful endangered-species recovery programs. Beyond the expressway, Yangxian is known for spring rapeseed fields, pear blossoms, organic rice and traditional rural landscapes. Nearby cultural and natural attractions include the Cai Lun Tomb and Shrine, dedicated to the pioneer of papermaking; Huayang Ancient Town, once an important stop on the historic Tangluo Trail across the Qinling Mountains; and the Changqing–Huayang ecological area, home to giant pandas, golden snub-nosed monkeys, takins and crested ibises. With no talking and no music, this video preserves the authentic sound of the road and the changing landscape. Relax and enjoy a peaceful journey from the Hanzhong Basin into China’s Qinling Mountains.
