In fact, more than 600,000 plastic bags are used EVERYDAY in Bangkok alone. When I buy something as small as a pen at 7-Eleven (which comes in a plastic wrapper) I am given a plastic bag when I check out. When I buy a tiny orange juice from a street vendor (which I drink in under 5 seconds) -- I am given a plastic straw (in a plastic wrapper) and a plastic bag. FOR A FREAKING ORANGE JUICE! Admittedly, I never took action against single-use plastic until I came to Thailand and saw how bad the problem has gotten. But it’s time to change my habits. Too much is too much, and the problem needs to stop (not only here in Bangkok, but the rest of the world). Because the more plastic that gets used, the more plastic ending up in our oceans, the more fish that eat plastic, the more plastic that humans eat (because we eat those fish).
