Check out my Substack: https://theroyalist.substack.com/ If you genuinely believed your family was in danger in this country, would you let a national newspaper tell the whole of Britain, four days in advance, exactly which city you were going to be standing in on Thursday? Nobody would. The working royals don't, and they are the ones who actually have the armed police. And yet that is exactly what Harry and Meghan have just done. According to the Sunday Times, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will visit three charities in Nottingham on Thursday. It will be Meghan's first public appearance in Britain since the family moved here at the end of August. Nottingham is no accident. It is where they carried out their very first joint engagement in December 2017, four days after announcing their engagement. That was the day the country fell for them. In this video, I ask why a couple who say Britain is too dangerous for them without state protection (who moved their children out of a school after two days, and who treated two photographers at a school gate as a matter of national security) would advertise their movements like this. My theory: they are hoping for trouble. Heads they win, tails Britain loses. A peaceful day delivers the pictures. A heckler, a scrum or a chorus of boos goes straight into the file for RAVEC and the Home Secretary. I also look at Friday night's booing at Welford Road, why the Sussex claim that the crowd was "booing the ref" does not survive a stopwatch, and why being booed is not a security incident. Plus Malala, the rival court, and why they cannot be private citizens when it comes to the photographers and public figures when it comes to the applause. If you ring the bell, you do not get to complain about the noise. Do you think they are hoping to be booed in Nottingham? And will they be? Tell me in the comments.
