This ear canal was so narrow the patient had to hold it open herself while Taylor worked — dry, clay-like wax pressed right up against the eardrum made this one of the trickiest extractions we've filmed. The entrance to this canal was so tight the standard suction tube barely fit, and the fine end couldn't achieve enough grip at all — so Taylor worked by feel and by ear, listening for the change in suction pressure as the wax began to lift. The wax itself was bone dry and tightly packed, breaking away in small sections rather than coming free in one go. Once the entrance eased slightly, a much bigger piece pulled forward from deep in the canal, revealing wax that had been sitting right against the eardrum.
