A shocking incident unfolded in Telford, Shropshire, after a bus driver was allegedly attacked before his bus was stolen and driven the wrong way down a road, colliding with multiple vehicles. West Mercia Police say officers were called to Court Street in Madeley at around 6:37pm on Friday, 18 September 2026, following reports that a bus driver had been assaulted by a man. During the incident, police say the driver was ejected from the bus before the vehicle was taken. The stolen bus was then driven along Park Way towards the High Street, travelling on the wrong side of the road and colliding with multiple vehicles as the incident continued through the area. Footage of the incident has since circulated widely across X and other social media platforms, appearing to show the confrontation involving the driver before the bus was taken. Some widely shared footage appears to show the driver's beard being pulled during the attack. The bus was eventually brought to a stop and officers arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of robbery and dangerous drivin. The bus driver was treated by paramedics for minor injuries, while police said no one else was believed to have been injured. Detective Sergeant Taigh Lannie of West Mercia Police described the incident as alarming for people in the area and confirmed that enquiries are continuing. Police are now appealing for witnesses and are particularly interested in anyone who may have dashcam, CCTV, mobile phone or doorbell footage covering Court Street, Park Way or High Street around the time of the incident. Anyone with information has been asked to contact West Mercia Police, quoting incident number 379i of 18 September 2026. ā ļø Please note: A man has been arrested on suspicion of offences. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt, and the investigation remains ongoing.
