Today glitch productions ended their long-running smg4 series. Let’s talk about it. Smg4 was a youtube series that ran for 14 and a half years. It led to the creation of glitch productions and all of their various indie shows. Today their final video titled the end came out. It’s the conclusion, and at the end of the video it features a cute little send off with all of the characters. Various voice actors who worked on the series like elsie lovelock and michael kovach celebrated the finale of the series over on twitter. Personally I think this was a great way to close the chapter on the series. I wasn’t someone who kept up with smg4, i knew of it’s existence and mentioned it in a few videos but it’s undeniable how big of an impact it’s had on the indie animation space. Glitch productions and their library of shows wouldn’t exist without it, and I think Kevin and Luke giving smg4 one final send off was the best way to go about it. Having a proper ending is always better than keeping something going until it loses what makes it special. It’ll also allow glitch to focus on their other library of projects. One common complaint against glitch is that they juggle too many things at once. With smg4 finished glitch can now shift gears to their new projects going into 2026. I do think smg4 is a little overrated. On twitter especially it was getting dunked on, with accusations of the video’s thumbnail being ai until the creator of the thumbnail had to come out to debunk it. The humour isn’t for everyone but i think it’s fair for fans to want to celebrate it’s existence without the fear of backlash. It was a big part of a lot of people’s childhoods which i think is really special. So what do you think? Were you a fan of smg4? Did you like the ending?
