Hunter 1930's Original 52" ceiling fan in wine red. Sometimes, you still find a local surprise. I've never seen one of these around here and thought I'd worn out my Original luck for the past year finding that brass import model, but I got this fan for free from a Marketplace listing not far from my place a few months back. Just had to take it down, and ultimately put up the new fandelier the homeowners got to replace it. These people were the original owners and knew a little about Original fans, to the point that they brought this with them when they moved here from across the state, and put it back up in their new place. Even had a spare tube of oil and the switch cap. With that said, it was looking a little worse for wear considering it'd been moved. While it did clean up better than even I expected, it's not in absolute prime mint condition. There are some finish blemishes, cracks and chunks missing on the blades, and some white overspray that I think maybe came from ceilings being painted at some point. I tried to remove that paint, but some of it won't budge and it'd look worse if I damaged the red finish, so I quit while ahead. Again, I got it looking pretty good, and on video it looks great. Once installed you can't really see the tiny white speckles where they exist. The whole reason they were getting rid of it was because the fan wouldn't run. I figured it was just a loose wire, maybe a bad switch. It was indeed that the black lead wire had just popped loose. Shoved it back in and it was running two minutes after I cracked it open. Of course it needed a full breakdown and service, cleaned everything inside and out. After doing so, it runs super smooth. I wasn't sure if I was ever gonna organically get one of these, and if I did, assumed I'd be paying a decent amount for it. Just goes to show that sometimes the wait pays off.
