RANDOM selected. --- 08/08/2022 - back & biceps exercises. Had to keep it short today. First day being able to get a workout in in about a week, and only the 2nd overall in about 2 weeks ā¹ļø. Total workout time: just under 1 hr. -----!!! RANT !!!!----- My rant about where I've been these last 2 weeks, unexpected aftermath of COVID ("TRANSIENT SYNOVITIS"), a random meet with my (biological) dad, and an incredibly frustrating eye infection... Ok, so first of all, apologies to my whopping 40-some subscribers for not having uploaded much in the last 2 weeks. I already explained before / during that first week how we had family visiting, and so that was that. But then the following week came, and things started getting weird. I won't get into details regarding my (nearly non-existent) relationship with my biological dad, who essentially abandoned us when I was about 10 years old, but he ended up getting in touch with me and my brother and we met for dinner with him and his brother and sister (our uncle and aunt). It was awkward. There's a whole story behind that side of the family (not good) that I won't get into, that I myself still don't even yet fully understand, but with that I'll move onto the next topic, lol. Aside from my wife and I already having very full plates of responsibilities, there always seemed to be something stopping me from getting a chance to get even a few minutes in the basement to workout. If it wasn't the way our son's napping has been unpredictable lately, it was something else. My biological dad wanting to see me again before heading back to Korea, which somehow resulted in the need for me to buy a chest freezer for the basement the same day, Andersen windows installation that got scheduled for the following day - and that call came the same morning that my dad called, but before he did, so I was scrambling to get the chest freezer in place while also needing to move all the furniture near windows and removing all the curtains / blinds / etc that same night... And then Thursday came along. My dad brought me so much unexpected groceries that I called my brother in law to take a bunch of it. My son played with his cousins that day, and he was zipping and zooming like any 2.5 year old toddler would right up to his nap. I finally took that time to take care of yard work which needed to be done before heading back out to NJ for the weekend (we had planned to leave the following day, Friday)... and this is when the nightmare began. When our son woke up, he was extremely fussy / crying. And while he ate a ton at dinner, having his usual healthy appetite, he was still extremely fussy whenever we picked him up. It was very concerning how painful his cries were (and his facial expressions suggested) and it really made no sense at all. Then we noticed HE WASN'T WALKING, CRAWLING, OR EVEN STANDING! I checked the cameras and could clearly see him sprinting about right before his nap, and at no point all day did he take a fall or otherwise hurt himself at all. My wife, having seen the worst in her decade+ experience working in hospitals, and with her PT brain, was having a meltdown, while I (as much as I hate being Dr. Google / WedMD) checked out the internet for similar stories, eventually seeing other parents' similar experiences with... TRANSIENT SYNOVITIS. It's essentially an extremely painful, debilitating inflammation around the hips that can occur in rare cases to only prepubescent children, namely male toddlers (2:1 ratio males to females), which is essentially an after effect of a viral infection (e.g. COVID-19 infection, which we had last month!). The thing is, transient synovitis usually doesn't happen for weeks or even months after the original viral infection is gone, which makes the onset just that much more mysterious and anxiety inducing. So basically everything was indicative of transient synovitis, but we called the pediatrician anyway to be safe. They were concerned but not hysterical, and said if he doesn't change by the following morning, take him to the ER. He wasn't much better the next morning, so that's exactly what we did. They did X-rays and a variety of blood tests, all which showed no injuries and no inflammatory markers or signs of infection. But ultrasound showed effusion around the femur / hips. Transient synovitis most likely diagnosis. Whew! We still ended up driving to NJ that evening, and ibuprofen helped him a ton. But he had trouble sleeping ALL weekend, considering what he'd just been through / was and is currently going through, and so my wife and I pretty much haven't properly slept in a week! š« Running out of characters to write, but also early last week I started getting an INTERNAL stye in my left eye. I don't even get styes!! So that's sucked royally... But I'm happy to say, he is doing a LOT better now, and seems 90% back to normal! So with that, I hope you all stay safe and healthy. See you next video!
