AI can help us finish work faster—but why do we still end the day feeling mentally exhausted? In this episode, we explore AI and the future of work, and how technology-driven productivity may be changing the way we use our mental energy. While AI helps us save time and get more done, it can also reduce the natural pauses between demanding tasks, leaving our brains constantly engaged. I’ve noticed this in my own work: I’m more productive, but the gaps between projects have become smaller. I shift gears faster, stay mentally engaged longer, and often use the time technology saves me to simply do more. So what does this constant productivity mean for our brain, cognitive load, focus, and mental recovery? In this episode, we’ll explore: • How AI and technology are changing the rhythm of modern work • Why productivity doesn’t always mean less mental fatigue • What happens in the brain when we step away from focused work • How short breaks and pauses can support mental recovery and learning • Why cognitive load matters in an increasingly AI-driven workplace • How natural pauses may improve focus, processing, and performance • The connection between AI productivity and mental exhaustion • One simple question I’ve started asking when I feel overloaded: “What is my brain managing right now?” Mental energy is one of our most valuable resources. As AI continues to transform the future of work, becoming more deliberate about how—and where—we spend that energy may matter more than ever.
