GM's 2.7L TurboMax is currently the only engine option available in the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, and personally, I don't think that's a bad thing at all! I've said it before, but if I had to pick one application where I would want GM's 2.7L TurboMax, it would probably be their midsize pickup trucks. I just think this engine is better suited to the lighter Colorado and Canyon than GM's larger half-ton trucks. It's got plenty of low-end torque, respectable horsepower, and has proven itself to be a pretty darn reliable engine despite all its complexity. But things are about to get even more interesting for 2027! GM's midsize trucks are getting the updated L4B 2.7L TurboMax, bringing an additional 40 horsepower over the current engine! That's 350 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque coming out of a relatively lightweight midsize pickup truck! I think that's a DEADLY combination! And if GM can maintain the reliability we've seen from the current 2.7L TurboMax, I think the 2027 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon are going to be some VERY tempting trucks! What do you guys think?
