In this video, I discuss the often misleading advice to 'do what you love and the money will follow' and explore an alternative approach based on Cal Newport's book 'So Good They Can't Ignore You.' Sharing my personal journey of career burnout and transition, I dive into Newport's concept that success and fulfillment stem from developing rare and valuable skills. We will explore the three key elements of intrinsic motivation: competence, control, and connection, and how they can help you learn to love your job. I'll also touch on when it might be time to quit your job and pursue something else. Join me as we rethink what truly leads to a fulfilling professional life.
