Educational institutes such as IIM and NIT were given to Indore and Bhopal. Many more medical, journalism, and other universities were also not given to Chhattisgarh. 2. Despite being a surplus power generator, Chhattisgarh faced electricity distribution issues. Because most of the power was transported to MP’s Indore and Bhopal. So Chhattisgarh had to consume much lower electricity (242 kwts) as compared to Madhya Pradesh (358 kwts) 3. Major cities and towns like Bhopal, Indore, and Jabalpur were located in the MP region and the Chhattisgarh region was ignored by all the state governments. - Demand for a separate Chhattisgarh state arose in the 1920s. It gained momentum in the 1990s with the formation of a political forum, Chhattisgarh Rajya Nirman Manch. - On November 1, 2000, Chhattisgarh was formed.
