Full game longplay of Penumbra: Black Plague, the second game in Penumbra Trilogy. Developed by Frictional Games, released for the PC in 2008, a year after the Episode One, Penumbra: Overture. Played in 1080p resolution, highest possible settings, recorded in 1080p60 HQ codec, though apparently the engine hates the OBS, and the game still came out looking rather low bit-rate-like, though it can't get any better in 1080p resolution than this. Note the game is a bit too loud, and they may be some skips and distortions, due to probably Dolby Atmos having too much fun and adding too much volume. I found all the notes, and 8/10 artifacts. Good enough. My own GOG refflink, it helps out the channel directly: https://adtr.co/n6h4w4 #Penumbra #Horror #Amnesia #firstpersonhorror My own refflink for NordVPN, as I get a mighty 40% provision for every purchase made through it!: https://adtr.co/6hu6wy If you enjoyed the video or the game, please do consider hitting that Like button and maybe eve do consider subscribing to the channel for more longplays of classic horros, shooters, adventure games, mostly retro and retro console stuff! Thanks for watching and reading! The story continues from the previous episode, Penumbra: Overture, showing the protagonist Philip moving away from the abandoned mine setting of the original to explore an underground research base. And so, after long 6 or 7 months, the second game in the Penumbra trilogy has hit my channel. It is considered to be more difficult, less engine-show-off product, and more... Amnesia-like, though that may be a heresy to a lot of people, myself included, as I actually do prefer Penumbra Episodes I&II to Amnesia games. It shares a lot more themes from horror sci-fi than Overture, which was, in my opinion, a masterpiece when it comes to the balance between fiction and real-life horror. In Black Plague, humanoid enemies first appear, and you learn how and why was Red, our only friend from Overture, the way he was... Mad, and why he wanted us to kill him. He literally couldn't do it himself. It is the titular Black Plague, that we too contract. A great horror theme, I might add. There have been some minor graphical improvements and what not, sound is still on point. Overall, Penumbra: Black Plague might the best OG first person horror game out there, sitting on the throne together with Amnesia: Dark Descent. But, I still do prefer Overture as my favourite game in the series, but I simply can't deny how well done Black Plague was. I'd rate it 8,5/10.
